Versante Sud Patologie e salute in arrampicata is a training guide useful for prevention, recognition and correct behavior to prevent injuries.
Focused on the most frequent injuries related to the practice of this sport, in this guide you will find some anatomy (necessary to identify the structures involved) and a description of the most frequent pathologies and traumas (with their main signs and symptoms) in order to provide some indication on how to recognize and understand them. Its purpose is absolutely not to promote self-diagnosis and treatment, but to better understand whether it is appropriate to reduce training loads, observe a rest period or contact a specialist doctor or physiotherapist capable of understanding the movements of the climbing.
The authors are two experts in this field. Mirella De Ruvo, surgeon specialist in sports medicine, after her experience as a doctor in charge of the first climbing competitions in Bardonecchia and work as a sports doctor, founded a sports medicine center, today a point of reference for mountain lovers and especially for climbers. Luca Colombo is instead a physiotherapist specialized in hand rehabilitation who has been working with sportsmen and patients with upper limb injuries for over 10 years.
